Sustainability consultant – development, dramaturgy, and curation of audiovisual content (CZVF250004)

Learning outcomes

The alumnae and alumni understand the principal concepts, relationships and contexts in environmental communication in the audiovisual industry and apply the principles of sustainable audiovisual production in an era of climate crisis and polycrisis. They can describe the environmental aspects of all phases of audiovisual production – from preparation to production to marketing and distribution – and explain the role of archives, recycling, and upcycling in the context of sustainability. They have a firm grasp of the risks of greenwashing and the need for a broader shift in the mindset around sustainable audiovisual production. They can identify key environmental risk points, apply the principles of sustainable communication while working with production background and the crew, manage recycling, acquisition and redistribution of works, analyse their environmental impact, and reflect on the connection between the sustainability of the audiovisual industry and the well-being of authors, including the objectives of transforming the established practice in the Czech audiovisual industry.

The alumna/alumnus has:

• the knowledge required to navigate the comprehensive topic of environmental communication off-set,

• an understanding of the challenges for sustainable audiovisual industry in an era of climate crisis,

• knowledge in the field of environmental communication during the stages of development, production and distribution of audiovisual works,

• knowledge in the field of archive recycling and upcycling,

• knowledge of the forms of greenwashing and marketing tools in relation to sustainable audiovisual production.

The alumna/alumnus can:

• capture the crucial points of communication at all stages of the production of an audiovisual work in accordance with sustainable filmmaking principles,

• approach acquisitions and redistribution with an understanding of sustainability in the film industry,

• place the sustainability of audiovisual creativity in context with wellbeing in the film industry,

• decipher any discrepancies between the forms of production of audiovisual works and the messages they convey,

• navigate the objectives of transforming established practices in the Czech audiovisual industry and our way of thinking about sustainability and our actions to support it.
