Goal description
The course is based on the principal aesthetic notion that animated film is a specific genre of dramatic art. Animation is also approached as a specific kinetic form of fine art. During the course students learn about various techniques and technologies of animated film – both hand-made and digital.
Learning outcomes
One Year Intensive Program – Animated film (OYIP-A) alumni are amply skilled and experienced in different animation techniques, from hand-drawn 2D (classical and digital) to stop-motion 2D and 3D techniques.
OYIP-A alumni are not only proficient with craft and technique but also have critical competence in relevant aspects of the animation filmmaking such as storyboarding and art direction.
OYIP-A alumni can showcase a distinctive enough artistic vision and imprint.
OYIP-A handles competently basic principles of narration, dramaturgy and storytelling.
OYIP-A is capable of developing, creating and delivering animation short films with sufficient artistic and narrative standards.
OYIP- A alumni possess a prudent knowledge of history and current trends of Animation.
OYIP-A alumni are fully capable of collaborating in professional independent animation teams or projects, whether as junior storyboard artists, animation assistants or junior animation artists.
Candidate's prerequisites
A maximum of 5 students per mentor workshop is accepted.
The OYIP-A is aimed at students who have at least finished high school education and have gained a minimum of practical experience in animation, illustration, or other visual arts. It is a very well-suited program for those who want to get an intensive and hands-on experience in the conception and crafting of animated films, which would allow them to be accepted for higher education degrees (Bachelor's, Master's) in Animation.
Animation mentors carefully evaluate the applications from all prospect students and make admission decisions based on the quality of those materials, with an approximate minimum of 3 students and a maximum of 5 students per each mentor workshop.
Conditions for completing
For completion of the course students must:
1) Execute and complete the animated film project of the mentor workshop within the time defined by the study plan.
2) Attend and pass all mandatory theory classes.
3) Accumulate a minimum of 60 ECTS credits by required and optional subjects.
