The grammar and conversation topics below are only for reference and may change according to the group and current topics. The main materials are the coursebooks Česky krok za krokem 2 and Čeština pro cizince - úroveň B1. In case of the advanced group the course can be held also as a B2 level. These coursebooks are supplemented with other materials. Particular emphasis is placed on topics connected to culture and Czech life.
Topics: Everyday conversational phrases, Family and interpersonal relationships, Residence, Travel, Employment, Biography, Holidays and traditions, Health and Lifestyle, Ecology, Communications - mass-media, letters, email, Life values, topics and vocabulary related to university studies
Grammar: practice of complex declinations and tenses, perfective and imperfective verbs, verb prefixes, verbs of motion, reflexive verbs, imperative, numbers, time phrases, more complex prepositions and conjunctions, adjectives and adverbs - creation and grading
Standard vs. non-standard Czech, slang.
Learning outcomes
Ability to communicate in practical situations
Ability to describe experiences, events, aims and formulate opinions.
Study vocabulary.

Evaluation methods and criteria
Course requirements:
- class participation (attendance min. 60%, i.e. more than six absences for any reason will result in failing the course),
- completion of assignments,
- final exam
Grading scale:
A = 100-89% (excellent performance exceeding the relevant criteria)
B = 88-80% (above-average performance with a minimum of errors)
C = 79-73% (average performance with an acceptable number of errors)
D = 72-66% (acceptable performance with a greater number of errors)
E = 65-60% (performance representing minimum fulfilment of the criteria)
F = less than 59% (unacceptable performance)
